Falcons won the toss and invited Tigers to bat amidst wet conditions. Some sharp line, length and swing bowling from Ankur Sharma (4-0-13-2) and Sunny Mathew (4-0-14-0) ensured that the Tigers did not get off to a flying start. Two quick wickets by Ankur left Tigers tettering at 22 for 2 in 6 overs. Yasir Sepah (19 off 22 balls, 1 six, 1 four) joined Praveen Injapuram (36 off 31 balls, 1 six, 2 fours) and the two built the innings and steadied it. Karthik Koppisetty (30 off 27 balls, 1 six) staked his claim as an all rounder by rotating the strike brilliantly with his partners and scoring 15 runs in the last over to get the total to 140 runs. He hit a brilliant six over extra cover in that over. Avinash Pal (1-0-17-1) and Priyan Rodrigo (3-0-15-1) were the other wicket takers for Falcons.
Falcons followed with Ali (22 off 31 balls, 1 six) and Rajesh Kumar Panigrahi (38 off 37 balls, 2 sixers) getting a steady flow of runs. The heavy outfield did not do justice to Ali's crisp cover drives, fetching only a single here and there. Rajesh was his usual self, working the bowlers with ease for singles and twos, knowing that was sufficient for achieving the target. Then the Falcons boat hit rock and started to leak wickets, thanks to brilliant bowling by the Tigers's spinners - Karthik Koppisetty (4-0-10-3), Fayez Jawed (4-0-17-2), Praveen Injapuram (3-0-18-1). Soubhagya Shekhar (17 off 12 balls, 1 six) and Ankur Sharma (11* off 12 balls, 1 six) threatened to steal the show, but the ask had climbed too high. Falcons finished with 122 for 8 wickets falling short by 18 runs.
