NCC won the toss and elected to field. Ashwin and Virendra were out very quickly but Pranjal steadied the ship. While NCC steadily chipped away at the other end (four different bowlers took 2 wickets each), Pranjal played each ball with total confidence, hitting 14 fours and 1 six. He scored boundaries in an arc from point to mid-off on the off-side and midwicket to deep fine leg on the leg-side, making mockery of the field placings. His score of 80 runs in just 40 balls along with Mansumeet's 24 was instrumental in ConAgra's highly competitive 170 for 8 in 20 overs.

NCC opened with Phil Blake and Anish Mathew. The pair scampered the singles and punched the periodic four to keep up a steady run-rate before Phil stepped it up from the 5th over onwards with some astonishing straight hitting. Anish got out in the 10th over, after on an opening partnership of 103 runs, for a personal score of 38 runs (28 balls, 5 fours). Phil continued unabated and finally perished at deep midwicket for a well-paced 76 (41 balls, 8 fours, 3 sixes). At that point, NCC needed about 5 an over and they duly completed the chase in 18.1 overs when 13 year-old Sahil Patel hit a cover drive for four. Pranjal was the pick of the ConAgra bowlers with 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs (and, unfortunately, had two dropped catches and a missed stumping off his bowling).

Special mention: Singh Sumit raced 20 feet to his right on the long-off boundary to take a one-handed stunner that must surely rank as one of the best outfield catches this (or any other) year.
